What a
Beautiful Mess.
-
Her Story.
As a painter, I explore nature, flowers, landscapes, and the “pretty” subjects surrounding me. What makes something beautiful? It could be the combination of harsh marks of charcoal, the anxious rubbing of a brush along the canvas. Or maybe its the softness of a towel swiped across acrylic, splattered with drips from a muddled jar of water. I get to figure that out using layers of paint, creating depth within the composition, and staying curious with my colors and marks.
I was raised in Omaha, Nebraska, by an architect father and a mother who is a painter. Watching my mom become a thriving artist inspired me to begin painting in my early twenties. Quickly, I found painting to be a therapy for the crippling anxiety that had been taking over my life. Painting (and a little help from Zoloft) gave me hope again.
Two decades of painting later, I now live in gorgeous Duluth, Minnesota. Along my journey, I won the jackpot and gained a supportive husband who keeps me grounded and two young daughters that keep me inspired.
My work is an extension of who I am; layered, brave, colorful, emotional, and longing to be at peace. A beautiful mess…
